The Lady Slims the Blues
The Tale:
A few years ago, the renowned singer Jessye Norman was due to give a concert at the ******** Hall.
For those unfamiliar with Ms Norman, it might be polite to mention that she could never be described as suffering from annorexia nervosa. She is, it would be far to say, 'fond of her food'. Okay, she's a damned big woman!
On arrival at the venue, the stagedoor keeper politely held the door open for her. After a couple of minutes wriggling, he suggested she might like to pass through the door sideways. To which Ms Norman replied...
'Honey, I ain't got no sideways!'
