Who would say that?

The Tale:

My band had a sub that had been a band director
for over 20 years. Someone got a note from the office and he was very
secretive about what it said. The receiver told us it was just
a note from her mom. We asked our sub why he acted like that.
He told us that when he'd been a band dirctor, a father had
walked right into class and said, "Your ma's dead." We were
all rather shocked. That wasn't at all what we expected.
