Critics of Postman really are missing the point. Postman doesn't hate society, in fact he likes it so much that he is trying to make people aware. Aware of what? Televisions, computers, microwaves, etc. are all wonderful devices that make our lives easier. I make use of each. However, I don't allow these devices (which is what they really are) to define my conciousness. Do I get information off the internet? Yes, I do. I am able to get volumes without picking up 9 books. This can be applied throughout. It's called a tradeoff, only some people can't view it that way and go beserk. We make tradeoffs in everything that we do, and technology is no different. Do I miss real Architecture? Yes, but we have to remember that Architecture, Art, etc. is a function of the society we live in. We are here, and there is relatively little that can be done about it.
