The use of computers in the place of human analysis.
Thoughts:
I thought that Postman's discussion of how we rely on computers for the diagnosis of our physical health problems, in particular thier use in CAT scans, was very interesting. Think about it. Our society prefers to have a blood test, cat scan, or even the simple diagnosis of a cold done by a computer because of the accuracy they have. We have developed a reliance on technology, that is logical, yet threatening when one thinks of the future. Will be give up the advice of physicians completely, unless of coarse they are ropots or computers. It is kind of scarry to think about. I think that it is good to recognize the benefits of the tools technology offers, but it is more important to avoide becoming dependent on these things.
