Ever wondered what the DJs were up to when they mix for a rave? Here's a simple but nifty demo of how the operation works. You'll need Netscape 2.0 and Shockwave to run it. The version below is beta, so expect imperfections. (For example: sometimes the right turntable needs an extra flick on the fader bar to get it to speak).
If at all possible, run this djdemo through your stereo amp and speakers -- it will sound a LOT better.

To start either or both turntables, click on the button or buttons indicated by the arrows. To crossfade, drag the bar left or right and listen to the results. To play a new disc, just drag the record onto the turntable. Getting the record to match beats requires some deft manipulation; but even off-sync matching can produce some interesting results.

(Requires Netscape 2.0 and the Macromedia Shockwave plugin.
