This refers to the way that software programs are organized and how each tool within the program presented to the user. Understanding user interface requires knowledge in the fields of Cognitive Science, Art, and Computer Science.

Apple Computer

My favorite computer. No hate for PCs, I just prefer the MacOS over Microsoft's. I have a G3 266 MHZ with 160 megs of RAM.

My favorite laptop is the eMate 300.

Classical Music

I'm currently the principal bass player at the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, the most awesome orchestra I've every played with. Come hear us!

I've been playing bass for ten years now, and it's still one of the most amazing things in my life

Techno

I'm not just into making classical music — I love techno/dance music, and have actually done some work myself. Check out some music my dad and I made that's on MP3.com.

Juggling

I also enjoy juggling, and am currently working on 7 balls. Yes, I have juggled knives as well as lit torches. =)

I am in the process of reading Donald Newman's Design of Everyday Things, which has many valuable guidelines regarding the interface to, well, everything!

R. A. Salvatore

Long have I been interested in the world of fantasy, and many books I have read regarding the subject. Of all the books I've read (aside from The Lord of the Rings), my favorite author is R. A. Salvatore. Click here to learn about him and work he has done.

Rhinos

I'm a big Rhino fan (in fact, it was the second word I learned when I was young!), and collect many stuffed toy rhinos and subscribe to the great newsgroup, Really Rhinos!

Friends

My girlfriend is Katia Voicehowsky. She has been the best thing that's happened to me, and we've been together for 3 years (and counting!).

Throughout high school, I was in a 'group' of six friends: Me, Derek Wiswell, Damien Alverez, Katia Voicehowsky, Vanessa Pool, and Moira Firmin. Though we are not attending the same school anymore, we still stay in touch.

I've made some new friends at Cal — a big wassup to Alfred Young, and my fellow CogSci undergrads!
